This case involves the accusation of Driving While Intoxicated ("DWI,") and Unlawful Carrying Weapon ("UCW.") This case continues as of September 2021. In 2019, the trial court agreed with me that t ... he search warrant used to acquire J.D.A.'s blood sample only authorized the testing of the specimen of blood for a finite period of time. Since the government performed testing of what they alleged to be J.D.A.'s blood outside of that period of time. This was a case that I handled while serving Southern Methodist University's Criminal Justice Clinic, who continues to fight for J.D.A.

OUTCOME: Dismissed

This case involved the government's accusation of Driving While Intoxicated ("DWI.") The trial court agreed that the arresting officer lacked any reasonable suspicion that R.V. had committed, was c ... ommitting, or was about to commit a crime at the time he initiated a traffic stop. Consequently, the trial court suppressed all evidence that was collected as a result of the traffic stop. Since the government had no hope of successfully prosecuting R.V. without this evidence, they dismissed the case.

This case involved the accusation of Driving While Intoxicated ("DWI.") The officer who arrested S.H. was accused of theft during the course of S.H.'s case. After bringing this to the government's ... attention, they agreed that the officer was not a witness they wished to rely upon. Consequently, the case was dismissed. This case was handled while at the SMU Criminal Justice Clinic.
