Exceptional attorney

I hired David Kleckner a long time ago to be my legal counsel. Mr. Kleckner was attentive, thorough, & compassionate. He represented me in a professional manner. I would recommended him to represent someone in need of a criminal defense lawyer without any hesitation.

Unethical, dishonest swindler

The review posted right before mine on Jan 25, 2017 is the exact same experience I went through. It's unbelievable that a man supposed to be helping others can be so unprofessional, intimidating, and horrifically rude to the point of literally yelling at me on the phone and making me burst into tears... for missing my bond hearing, which he failed to even tell me about. I hired a new amazing lawyer to represent me and the bond forfeiture was dismissed. This man harassed not just myself, but my father as well who had to loan money just to pay him... and this is how unprofessional he is: he asked us to meet us on a Saturday afternoon with the obscene amount of money in CASH. He asked us to meet him at the parking lot of a Popeyes, and we waited half an hour until he showed up on a bicycle to collect the money from us. Never saw him again. He appeared at my first hearing over an hour late but my new lawyer was already there present with me from the very beginning. When Kleckner finally showed up in his wrinkly old suit and untidy appearance , we were already inside the court room and my lawyer let him know he was taking over.

REVIEW

My friend contacted Mr. Kleckner on my behalf while I was in Plano jail. He immediately advised that the cost for him to bail me out was $1930. His information was provided to me by the Plano police. My friend needed to use a debit card, so he was charged additional fees totaling $2199. Once I co...ntacted the bail bonds office I was advised that Mr. Kleckner only paid $150 to them so the rest of the money was pocketed. I have been advised by other lawyers and the bond office that the money that I was charged was extremely gross. Never heard of to be clear! Mr. Kleckner never contacted me to discuss the details of my arrest, never discussed what he could do for me if I were to retain him. He was very short and blunt about what I needed to do over the course of the week and that his retainer fee was $10,000. When it was time for me to go to my initial hearing a week after my arrest. He said that I had not retained him so he had no intention on going to this hearing with me. I asked what did my $2199 pay for. He stated that it was to get me out of jail but it actually only cost $150. I would have been happy to pay more, even up to $500 but $2199 is absolutely outrageous!! The next morning he changed his toon and called me to tell me what court I was suppose to report to but I had already found that information myself and was sitting in the court room waiting for the judge. I have not heard from him since. Mr. Kleckner took advantage of the situation by charging $2199 to someone that was not familiar with being arrested and needing to bond out. He did not seem concerned about me unless I was going to retain his services. I had to contact another lawyer that has helped me tremendously and has not asked for a dime. He is helping me every step of the way!!!! I would not recommend Mr. Kleckner to ANYONE!! He is all about the money and I would be interested to know how many other people have had this experience with him.
