Return of Down Payment Following Breach of Contract

OUTCOME: Down payment, plus court costs, recovered less than two months following taking legal action.

My client had agreed to purchase another individuals shipping route for $20,000. The client paid $5,000 cash down payment to secure the purchase of the route. When it was time for the client to pay t ... he remaining $15,000, the defendant upped the price to $30,000 and refused to return the down payment after the client requested it's return. Suit was filed against the defendant for return of the down payment.
