Gary L. Richardson has become one of the Southwest’s most renowned and prominent attorneys establishing him and his partnership, Richardson Richardson Boudreaux PLLC, as one of the most sought after firms in the region. Gary is the founding attorney of the firm, originally The Richardson Law Firm. Richardson has served throughout the Oklahoma and Texas and surrounding states, setting record jury verdicts in eleven counties as well as state-wide record verdicts. He won the largest recorded jury verdict in a defamation case for an individual in the amount of $58M. Gary also succeeded in the highest known verdict in a farm implement case to the sum of $10.2M. Recently, Gary and his son, Chuck, achieved the largest sum for a verdict in a wrongful death case as well as the largest sum for a verdict for a prison inmate in Oklahoma in the sum of $6.5M.
With the reputation of obtaining multi-million dollar verdicts in complicated civil suits, Richardson has developed expertise in arguing his cases with persuasive impact and communicating to the jury in an effective and convincing manner. Gary attributes his success to lessons he has learned through a multitude of life experiences, which have also been the inspiration behind his three published books; Fear is Never Your Friend, Thank God They Ate the Apple, and Black Robe Fever, as well as his taped motivating series, Winning in the Courtroom. He conducts 1-4-hour seminars throughout the U.S. on the subject of his book Fear is Never Your Friend.
Gary graduated from Southern Nazarene University and was honored as an Outstanding Graduate for the university in 1983. While starting a family and working as an insurance adjuster for Allstate Insurance, Richardson entered law school at Oklahoma City University as a night student. He received the prestigious Green Bag Award during his first semester for achieving the highest grades in his class. After being transferred by his company to Houston, Texas, Gary completed his law degree at South Texas College in 1972. Upon completion of law school, he was solicited by the State of Oklahoma as the Assistant Insurance Commissioner in 1974 where he also served on the legal staff. Richardson was appointed Assistant District Attorney in Muskogee County, OK in 1975 and served for two years. While serving as the Assistant DA, he set the then record for the longest list of convictions. Gary entered into a partnership with Doug Garrett in Muskogee after working for the DA.
In 1981, Gary Richardson was appointed by President Ronald Regan as the United States Attorney. He served in this position until 1984. Upon the expiring of his term, Gary opened his own law firm. Richardson started his firm with the designed purpose of representing people who had been wronged. His firm went on to become known as one of the preeminent trial lawyers in the Southwest. Today the successful firm has evolved into the partnership of Richardson Richardson Boudreaux PLLC.
Gary made a run for Congress in 1978 and 1980. In 2002, Richardson conducted a strong campaign for Governor as an Independent and received the open endorsement of both Republican candidates after they lost in the Republican primary.
Married to Lanna Wilcox, Gary is an active member of South Tulsa Baptist Church. He has served in other churches throughout his moves as a Deacon, music leader, Sunday school teacher and an occasional speaker at the pulpit. Lanna and Gary together have five children and ten grandchildren.
