Michael F Smith

Michael Smith is a skilled trial and appellate lawyer with a focus on complex litigation, including products liability, consumer protection class actions, multi-district litigation, malpractice, and insurance bad faith. He has represented clients in state and federal courts across the country and is widely recognized for his expertise in appellate practice before the Oklahoma Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

Admitted to practice in Oklahoma, Illinois, and New York, Michael also appears before multiple federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. His appellate work has set new legal precedents, and in 2020, the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Family Law Section honored him for his role in Schnedler v. Lee, a landmark case before the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Michael’s work has earned him recognition in Benchmark Litigation, The Best Lawyers in America, and Oklahoma Super Lawyers. He is a former chair of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s appellate practice committee and an active member of the Council Oak/Johnson-Sontag American Inns of Court.

A graduate of Oklahoma State University (B.S., Political Science, 1987), Michael earned his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1991, graduating with distinction. In law school, he was a Notes and Comments Editor for the Tulsa Law Journal and received the Robert C. Butler, Jr., Award for Excellence in Legal Scholarship and Writing.
