Michael F Smith

Michael is a trial and appellate lawyer with a strong focus on complex litigation, specializing in products liability, consumer protection, and insurance law. Practicing in both state and federal courts across the U.S., he is highly regarded for his expertise in appellate practice, particularly in the Oklahoma Supreme Court and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Admitted to practice in Oklahoma, Illinois, New York, and multiple federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, he has consistently achieved favorable appellate outcomes that set new legal precedents. In 2020, he was recognized for his role in the landmark case Schnedler v. Lee by the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Family Law Section. Michael's remarkable career has earned him spots in Benchmark Litigation, The Best Lawyers in America, and Oklahoma Super Lawyers. He also chaired the OBA's appellate practice committee and is involved with the Council Oak/Johnson-Sontag American Inns of Court. A graduate of Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in political science, Michael earned his law degree with distinction from the University of Tulsa, where he served as Notes and Comments Editor for the Tulsa Law Journal and received awards for legal scholarship and writing.
