John Philip Bennett

John P. Bennett is a owner of Bennett Law, PLLC. John graduated from Bucknell University with a B.S. degree in Environmental Studies in 2000. He is a 2003 graduate from the University of Denver College of Law where he was an active member of the Environmental Law Society and the International Law Society.

John is licensed to practice law in both Colorado and Oklahoma. He began his practice in Colorado working the plaintiff’s side of a multi-district litigation involving mass tort product liability. Before moving to Tulsa Oklahoma in 2007, he practiced primarily in the field of family law.

John is a member of the Oklahoma and Tulsa County Bar arrival in Tulsa, John worked as an Assistant District Attorney for Tulsa County in 2007 prosecuting domestic violence cases. He advanced to a position on a felony team where he shared responsibility for the prosecution of violent crimes, sex crimes and crimes against children. John acted as lead trial counsel in over ten criminal jury trials. When he left the District Attorney’s Office to join Richards & Connor, he was in charge of sex offender registration and animal cruelty prosecution for Tulsa County.

John is an Eagle Scout and has been awarded the Boy Scouts of America National Court of Honor Medal of Merit for Lifesaving. He collected and shipped over 35,000 books as part of a collaboration with the Liberty Bell Foundation and the United State’s Peace Corps designed to provide teaching materials for teachers in emerging democracies in Central and Eastern Europe.

John is an avid traveler having been to all 50 states (including every National Park in the contiguous United States), throughout Canada and Mexico, to Australia and New Zealand and to 14 countries in Europe. John enjoys golfing and hiking with his two dogs in his free time. He and his wife Amy have two young sons, Jackson and Foster.
