OUTCOME: Happy but expensive outcome
Mother of two year old died. Father died in a car accident less than a year later. Not only was there a probate estate for the father, but also an ongoing conservatorship for the child.
OUTCOME: Settlement of $240k for the client
Client called on a Thursday afternoon. She indicated that there was a hearing the following Monday and that opposing lawyer had told her to settle for $15k or she was going to lose the case and get not ... hing. That was when we got involved. We were able to not only set aside opposing counsel's Motion for Summary Judgment, but also to secure a settlement in excess of $240, for the client. This was in spite of opposing counsel's assertion that he had a "slam dunk" case and would crush us in court.
