Charles Timothy Laughlin

Charles “Tim” Laughlin is a criminal defense attorney with more than 27 years of experience defending the constitutional rights of individuals accused of crimes throughout Oklahoma. He has represented hundreds of clients at the trial and appellate levels in cases ranging from misdemeanors to capital murder, including property crimes, drug crimes, sex crimes, violent offenses, and homicide.

Before joining the Wyatt Law Office, Tim spent his entire legal career with the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, where he served as Executive Director from 2021 to 2025 and previously served as Chief of the Non-Capital Trial Division from 2007 to 2021. He also handled capital trial defense and capital post-conviction matters. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive experience in criminal investigations, trial preparation, cross-examination, appellate advocacy, and case resolution.

Tim has been recognized with the Champion of Public Defense award from the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Professional Advocate Award from the Oklahoma Bar Association Criminal Justice Section. He also served as President of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association from 2011 to 2013 and President of the Custer County Bar in 2002.

He earned his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma in 1993, majoring in English with minors in History and Political Science, and his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1997. He is admitted to practice in Oklahoma, with admissions to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma listed as pending.
