Biography
Nicholas Hunley is an attorney, Certified Professional Landman, and GAP certified negotiator with a deep and diverse range of experience in many facets of the oil & gas industry. Nicholas was born and grew up in Parkersburg, WV and received his B.A. and J.D. from West Virginia University prior to accepting his first position as an in-house landman with Chesapeake Energy Corporation and later went on to positions at WPX Energy, ConocoPhillips Company, and others. Throughout his over 10 year career, Nicholas has expertly negotiated, drafted, and closed countless transactions implementing creative and unique strategies. He has been an individual contributor, advisor, and manager at Fortune 500 companies and has completed a multitude of farmouts, joint venture agreements, acreage trade agreements, purchase and sale agreements, joint operating agreements, as well as many others.
In addition to his extensive management of active leasing and abstracting projects, Nicholas has been responsible for the drilling of dozens of wells in multiple basins and plays, including the Marcellus, Utica, SCOOP, STACK, Merge, Eagle Ford, Permian, and others. In separate ventures, Nicholas has participated in many projects as a non-operating working interest owner, acquiring these positions through leveraging of market intelligence and regulatory framework.
In addition to his land work, Nicholas sits on the board of directors for Choices Counseling Center, an agency that provides mental health therapy to a number of disadvantaged children and families. Nicholas currently resides in Oklahoma City with his wife Kristen, his children Ellery and Colson, as well as their two dogs, Abby and Greeley.
