I agree with Deborah. You cannot drop the charge. Only the prosecutor can do that. I might suggest going to the prosecutor and explaining yourself...

My husbands sister died 2 yrs. ago w/ no prearrangements. Her kids have not placed a marker, can the brothers & sisters do it?

My first inclination was, why not? But after thinking about it, if the estate owns the plot, then you can't really interfere with private property...

If you don't get anywhere with the school, go to your local prosecuting attorney's office and file a complaint against the kid.
