Our client filed a claim in 2011 for both Title II (SSD) and Title XVI (SSI) benefits. She was denied by a judge in 2017, but her case was remanded by the Appeals Council in 2019. We had a hearing in ... 2020, long after her Date Last Insured on the Title II claim. To further complicate things, she got married in 2018, at least partially affecting her SSI eligibility. We won her SSI claim. She won't get rich of this claim, but she needs health coverage and the favorable decision from SSA will help her maintain her Medicaid coverage, which was ultimately the only reason she filed for disability benefits in the first place.
