Review of Attorney Megan Wells
My experience with Ms. Wells was extremely disappointing and revealed a pattern of serious professional failures. Although these events occurred in 2018, it has taken me years to process and articulate what happened because the representation itself was retraumatizin...g and significantly impacted my ability to focus, organize, or advocate for myself at the time.
I hired Ms. Wells for a family law matter that did not require litigation — the opposing party could have resolved the issue with a simple conversation. Instead, he used the court system as a tool for control and harassment. Ms. Wells was fully aware of this dynamic, yet she failed to provide even the most basic level of advocacy or protection.
From the beginning, the filings were built on a completely fabricated narrative framework. Every question was structured as a condemning accusation based on events that never occurred and had no connection to factual reality. I explained that the material was triggering and impossible to answer accurately without legal guidance, especially given the trauma‑related cognitive impairment I was experiencing.
Despite promising to review the documents with me, she instructed me to complete them alone and never followed through.
During both the deposition and my testimony, the opposing attorney repeatedly brought up a deeply traumatic event from 2016 involving the loss of my dog — an event that had nothing to do with the case and that I had long since made peace with. This was introduced solely to destabilize me emotionally. Ms. Wells allowed this line of questioning without objection, without preparation, and without any trauma‑informed support, despite knowing the history and the impact it had on me.
The deposition phase exposed even more deficiencies. I was not prepared, not briefed, and not given any strategic direction. The extensive evidence I provided — which directly contradicted the false narrative — was never incorporated into her questioning. Her questioning of the opposing party avoided the issues that needed to be challenged.
In court, she offered no meaningful rebuttal, no contextual clarification, and no challenge to the assumptions embedded in the filings. She simply allowed the opposing narrative to stand unchallenged.
One of the most troubling moments occurred when Ms. Wells herself asked my child biased, leading questions that reinforced the false narrative rather than challenging it. Instead of protecting my child from being pulled into a distorted framework, she actively participated in it.
Throughout the entire process, Ms. Wells failed to:
challenge a demonstrably false narrative
prepare her client for deposition or court
use the evidence provided
object to inappropriate or destabilizing questioning
provide trauma‑informed support
advocate at any critical juncture
recognize or act on the misuse of the legal system
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Ms. Wells for any family law matter, especially those involving trauma, complex histories, or situations where an attorney must be willing to challenge false narratives and protect their client from further harm.
