This case dealt with the issue of contempt power of a judicial officer. In this case, the client showed up late for trial; and thereafter was stepped back for his tardiness. While being stepped back ... , he called the Judge some profane language. The judicial officer gave him 6 months for contempt for the profane language. I filed several emergency motions for possible medical issues and as well psychological issues that needed to be explored. Moreover, I had to file an immediate appeal to the D.C. Court of Appeals for emergency relief. The Court of Appeals granted a stay of the sentence. Thereafter, the Court of Appeals dismissed the Contempt charge.
OUTCOME: Case dismissed
