Finally, I met with her boyfriend who agreed to retract some of statement he made to the police and I submitted it to the City Prosecutor's office.

Client's friend contacted us through AVVO after a motion hearing, with previous counsel, went awry and our client was committed to and confined in the Louisiana Criminal Hospital for a mental health ev ... aluation. The contact hired me and I was able to visit him in the local jail and began immediate steps to find a solution to his case. Client had been arrested and was being formally prosecuted by the District Attorney's office for felony contractor fraud. After meeting with the prosecutor, reviewing all the evidence, and seeking the best result possible, I was able to convince the prosecutor to accept a payment of restitution to the homeowner in exchange for completely dismissing the charges AND release from all custody of our client.

OUTCOME: Case reduced to misdemeanor, sentence deferred under La. C.Cr.P. art. 894, and case dismissed by the Court after 2 months bench probation

Client arrested for felony public payroll fraud in February 2014. Client accused of payroll fraud by the City of Baton Rouge for $6000 in court costs + $10,120.47. The attorney for the city, at first ... said, .our client needed to come up with AT LEAST HALF OF THE 10K before she will go to the Mayor's office if we wanted a reduced charge. The evidence before us included City-Parish vehicle trackers, eyewitnesses and GPS monitoring that supported payroll fraud of 420 hours of regular work time -- $19.2679 per hour and 38.5 hours of Overtime -- $28.9019 per hour. We managed to dissect some of these allegations and question some significant portions of the evidence they intended on presenting. The total dropped to $7500. Client agreed to pay this for a misdemeanor and a deferred sentence of only two months bench probation and his case was then dismissed.

OUTCOME: Case reduced down to misdemeanor and client had credit in jail already and so he went home and case was over.

Client arrested on two different serious felony matters. First, he was accused of possessing cocaine while armed with a pistol on his person. Second, he was accused of violently beating up his girlfri ... end with a dangerous weapon. Client had previously done hard time for several years on an attempt murder conviction, BUT had turned his life around and was now working and in a union job. I worked this case hard and it took an incredible amount of work to convince the ADA to negotiate any kind of positive resolution. This case ran from 12/2014 until final resolution in 08/2017! In the end, the ADA dismissed the aggravated battery and felon in possession of a firearm charges. Then, the ADA amended possession of cocaine while armed with a firearm charge to the misdemeanor charge of illegal carrying of weapon. Client pled guilty to this misdemeanor and he received credit for time served as he had sat in jail at the beginning of the case until we could get him bonded out. I had met with the judge along with the ADA prior to sentencing and we explained all mitigation client has done over 2.5 years, including completing DVOP. The ADA did point out that client is 3rd or 4th felony offender, including an attempted murder conviction. Judge gave him 6 months CFTS, client went home that day and case closed. Client had to forfeit gun

Helped victim's family at the hospital during her medical examination and investigate the case with them and ... coordinated with both the prosecutor and the defendant's attorney in order to obtain the best result for their family justice could provide in such a painful and anxiety ridden case. In the end, we were able to meet the needs of our client's family and get a good result.
