Michael D. Hunt

Michael Hunt represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation and disputes involving design and construction. His litigation experience includes contract disputes, civil and criminal antitrust matters, environmental claims, expropriation and eminent domain actions, defense of federal and state securities law claims, disputes involving business torts, trade secrets and unfair trade practices. He has represented clients from many industries, including engineering and consulting firms, contractors, chemical and product manufacturers, financial institutions, insurers and public utilities.

Mr. Hunt counsels owners, contractors and specialty subcontractors on design/build and EPC projects, assisting with negotiations and contract drafting. He represents clients in disputes involving public bids and the prosecution of public contract claims against governmental entities. He has regularly represented clients in arbitration proceedings governed by the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

In addition to appearing in state and federal courts in Louisiana, Mr. Hunt has litigated matters in Alabama, California, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Since 2008, Mr. Hunt has served as the managing partner of Phelps Dunbar LLP.
