Michael A. Mayhall, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduated from Loyola Law School in New Orleans in 1976 and was admitted to the Louisiana Bar that same year. While in law school he was a member of the Loyola Law Review. After law school Mr. Mayhall earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University and worked as trial counsel for the office of District Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in Newark, New Jersey from 1976 through 1979.
Mr. Mayhall is a Board Certified Tax Law Specialist certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, who practices in the areas of federal, state, and local taxation. He is experienced in tax litigation and representing businesses and individuals before federal, state and local taxing authorities. His experience includes tax and business planning for business formations, reorganizations, tax free exchanges, mergers and acquisitions, and buying and selling businesses; preparing partnership agreements, operating agreements for limited liability companies, buy-sell agreements and business contracts; and advices in connection with the formation and operations of charitable organizations and other tax-exempt organizations.
Mr. Mayhall is a member of the Louisiana State and American Bar Associations, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is an AV preeminent rated attorneys by his peers through Martindale-Hubbell, was picked as one of New Orleans Top Lawyers in 2009 and has been named as a Louisiana Super Lawyer from 2008 through 2012.
