Adam Davis practices in the area of admiralty litigation. Since 2014, he has investigated and/or litigated marine casualties involving inland and at-sea collisions in all visibility conditions; well, dock and bridge allisions; capsizing of vessels; wave-wash claims; barge breakaways; shipboard fires and explosions; groundings; anchor loss; cargo damage and loss; salvage claims; discovery of contraband; magic pipe cases; personal injury; death; and recreational collisions/allisions. He also regularly defends vessel owners and mariners with investigations and enforcement actions by the U.S. Coast Guard, NTSB, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Adam is a U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Third Mate. Before joining Phelps, Adam accrued hundreds of days of marine experience working on vessels as a merchant mariner at sea and on the lower Mississippi River. He also completed an externship with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges, where he focused on legal issues arising under the Longshore Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.
