My experience with TopDog Law was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this firm to anyone who expects consistent communication, personal attention, or an attorney who will genuinely fight for them. My accident occurred on February 18, 2026. I was the passenger, and the other vehicle... struck the passenger side—my side—of my own vehicle. I experienced whiplash, went through chiropractic treatment, lost the use of my vehicle because it was totaled, and was left dealing with the consequences of the accident. Despite hiring a law firm that aggressively advertises that it gets clients “top dollar,” I received almost no meaningful communication concerning my case for approximately three months. I did not hear from pre-litigation case manager Kaylynn Reddin until May 21, 2026. I did not speak with my attorney, Chris Hillman, for the first time until June 29—more than four months after the accident. Throughout the case, most of my communication was with the pre-litigation case manager, not my attorney. Calls frequently went unanswered, and I sometimes waited weeks for updates. When clients hire an attorney after a traumatic accident, they should not have to chase the firm for basic information about their own case. Unfortunately, the communication has not improved. For the past week, I have repeatedly attempted to contact both Chris Hillman and Kaylynn Reddin because I have moved and my settlement check cannot be mailed to the old address the firm has on file. I need to know whether the check can be issued through direct deposit or mailed to my new address. Neither of them has answered my calls or returned my repeated voicemails. This is not a minor question. This concerns the safe delivery of my settlement money. A law firm handling a client’s funds should not leave that client repeatedly calling and wondering whether a check may be mailed to an address where the client no longer lives. The fact that I cannot get anyone to return my calls even about something this important perfectly summarizes my entire experience with TopDog: the communication is horrible. When I finally spoke with Chris Hillman, I explained that I wanted them to fight to get me as close to $10,000 as possible. Instead of feeling like my attorney was advocating for me, I repeatedly heard what Allstate probably would not do because I had only treated with the chiropractor for approximately three weeks. I understand that the length of medical treatment affects the value of a claim. However, I hired an attorney to explain my options, advocate for me, and make a genuine effort—not repeatedly emphasize the insurance company’s position and make me feel as though my case was an inconvenience they wanted finished. TopDog recommended a $7,500 settlement for me. Their contingency fee was 33⅓%, and my chiropractic bill was approximately $3,000. Before any additional expenses, that potentially left me with only about $2,000 unless the medical bill was reduced. Yet when I repeatedly asked what I would actually receive, I could not get a clear estimate. I was told another department would have to negotiate the medical expenses before anyone could tell me my expected net payment. What made this even more upsetting was that the other occupant in my vehicle was offered approximately $8,100 and was reportedly given an estimated net payment of approximately $3,100. Meanwhile, I was the passenger struck on my side, it was my vehicle that was totaled, and I was the person left without transportation. Nevertheless, I was offered $600 less and could not even obtain a reasonable estimate of what I would actually take home. When I expressed that I was unhappy with the $7,500 amount and wanted them to continue negotiating toward $10,000, Chris Hillman emphasized the possibility that the case could proceed to litigation and that the attorney’s fee could increase from 33⅓% to 40%.
