Dominique Marie Lang

I hired Ms. Lang for a protective order, community property partition and support in my divorce from abusive ex with court dates that were already scheduled. She charged me a $4000 retainer, did none of the work she claimed was necessary and urgent. She quit about a week before my court date leavin...g me in the lurch with a dishonest abuser who used the opportunity to took advantage of me more. I asked Ms. Lang to provide my case file of work she claimed she was doing writing pleadings, emails to my ex’s counsel, etc. it turned out she hadn’t done any work on my case except read the court file. When she quit, she invoiced me claiming she was due money from my retainer — for nothing ethically billable — but that i was due refund of half of my prepaid retainer. She never did. She kept the entire retainer and hasn’t respond to my emails or calls since. Please do not fall for her sales pitch that she advocates for women and abuse victims. She was predatory to me while I was vulnerable and trying to escape an abuser who used the court to drag out his violence and financial abuse.

Dominique Lang was dishonest and not transparent regarding what her fees would cover. She is listed as a modest means attorney but her fees are excessive. Once she received payment of retainer fees, she could no longer be reached by phone and didn't respond to my voicemails. I had to search for her e...mail address online as she did not provide this information to me in order to send communications. She was not prompt with email responses, and I had to wait days for a response. The attorney refused to meet with me prior to my court date, and came to court unprepared. She withheld information regarding my child's fathers attorney withdrawing from the case which she knew 2 weeks prior to the trial. She communicated with the father of my child, but I couldn't even receive copies of filings that she was suppose to submit on my behalf. This attorney is unprofessional.
