I represented a family that resided in an illegal apartment for three years. I filed a lawsuit based upon consumer fraud. My cause of action was predicated on the fact that the landlord had knowingly r ... ented an illegal apartment to the tenants who did not know that the apartment was illegal when they signed a lease with the landlord. The tenants only found out the apartment was illegal when the department of housing code enforcement cited the landlord for having an illegal unit. I was able to settle the case and got the tenants all the rent that they paid for the entire term of their tenancy.

OUTCOME: case was dismissed at trial two separate times but I filed appeals both times and the judge's decision was reversed by the Appellate court both times. Judgement was then entered in favor of my client along with the costs of the appeals.
