OUTCOME: Reversal of Default Judgment
A default judgment was issued against the Russian government for $234 million USD. The default was vacated by the 5th circuit in an opinion that is the leading case on service under the Foreign Sover ... eign Immunities Act (FSIA). After service was properly made the US District Court dismissed the complaint and the appeal was denied by a 3 judge panel of the 5th circuit which granted our motion for summary affirmance. The US Supreme Court denied the plaintiff's Petition for Writ of Certiorari.
