It was nice to feel, especially in a court where you are guilty until innocent, like someone had my back. Ms. Daly was able to comprehensively assess my situation, and provide real solutions to difficult situations. When I felt panicked, or doomed, or bullied by the prosecutor, she was always quick... to fight for my rights and stand up for me when I needed her. When we were denied an essential provision from the city, she wouldn't take no for an answer and continued to press for it until we got what we needed. It was her persistence and consistency that eventually forced the prosecutor to dismiss my case without prejudice. She kept me informed throughout the process, and worked tirelessly, including on nights and weekends. She exhausted every resource available to her in order to win my case. It truly felt like we were in it together. And that felt good, because the D.V. court is an unfair court. The D.V. court doesn't care about justice or family or women as it claims. It denied the "victim" in our case a voice, and dismissed her as a half-wit incapable of making her own decisions. The D.V. court nearly bankrupt my family and left us for homeless. It was the worst time in my life. The only thing that provided a modicum of respite from the court's harassment, and violation of my rights, and denial of due-process was the knowledge that I had a capable, aggressive attorney fighting in my corner. Don't go into a situation like this alone. The D.V. court is in a unique position of operating outside of your constitutional rights, and requires a very special kind of attorney familiar with its nuanced, despotic insanity. Thank you, Cailin.
