Nicholas Robert Grennan

Nicholas R. Grennan is a patent attorney with Suiter Swantz IP. Nick received his engineering degree from Cornell University with a major in Operations Research & Information Engineering, which has been described as “advanced analytics to help make better decisions”. Nick graduated with honors from the Creighton University School of Law.

Several years prior to attending law school, Nick served as a project engineer intern for the nation’s largest privately-held mechanical contractor, where he gained an excellent understanding of the construction industry and mechanical systems.

Prior to joining Suiter Swantz IP, Nick practiced complex commercial litigation.

Nick represents clients in a broad spectrum of technological areas, including the mechanical arts, electro-mechanical devices, telecommunications, networking, computer hardware, semiconductors, integrated circuits, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), data analytics, user-interface systems, software, aerospace, medical devices, and designs.

Nick was recently selected by his peers as one of the Top Lawyers of Omaha, by Omaha Magazine. Nick was also named to Super Lawyers’ 2013-2021 Rising Stars.

Additionally, Nick enjoys advising clients on various issues throughout the life of patents, such as helping clients to enforce and monetize their patents, as well as defending clients from patent infringement lawsuits. Nick has a diverse practice that allows him to serve clients from conception of the invention through enforcement of an issued patent, and if necessary, in litigation.

In addition to patent-related matters, Nick routinely represents clients with respect to various intellectual property matters related to trademarks, trade secrets, licensing, infringement analysis, and ownership of intellectual property rights.

Nick frequently enforces clients’ intellectual property rights throughout the United States and defends clients from intellectual property claims asserted by third parties. When necessary, Nick represents clients in lawsuits in various federal courts.

Nick is admitted to practice as a patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In addition, he is admitted to practice in all Nebraska state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Nick is a member of the Omaha Bar Association and the Nebraska State Bar Association.
