A.J. Hernandez is an Attorney at Berry Law who focuses on personal injury litigation. Licensed in Nebraska, Iowa, and New Jersey, he represents injured individuals in motor vehicle collision, trucking, motorcycle, and other negligence matters with an approach shaped by experience on both sides of the courtroom. A.J. began his legal career in insurance defense, where he practiced for approximately five years before transitioning to the representation of the injured party. That background gives him a practical understanding of how insurers assess liability, value claims, and approach settlement negotiations, as well as what juries find credible when cases proceed to trial. He uses that perspective to build persuasive cases, anticipate defense strategies, and position clients to pursue the strongest possible outcome.

At Berry Law, A.J. is part of a litigation team committed to advocacy and compassionate client service. He works closely with clients navigating the aftermath of serious injuries, recognizing that a claim is not simply a legal file but often a turning point in a person’s physical recovery, financial stability, and day-to-day life. A.J.’s decision to devote his practice to injured individuals was also shaped by personal experience. In the spring of 2022, his wife was involved in a motor vehicle collision and quickly experienced the limitations that her injuries imposed on everyday life. Witnessing firsthand the aftermath and the physical, emotional, and financial toll that an injury can have on an individual, and on a family, reinforced his desire to help people through these difficult times. That experience informs the empathy he brings to client representation today. He understands that behind every case is a person whose routines, work, relationships, and peace of mind may have been disrupted in lasting ways. His goal is to combine honest counsel with determined advocacy, so clients feel heard, prepared, and supported while pursuing compensation.

A.J. earned his bachelor’s degree in Crime, Law, and Justice, along with a minor in Sociology, from The Pennsylvania State University in 2011. He received his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 2016 and is admitted to practice in Nebraska, Iowa, and New Jersey. His professional recognition includes an election for a two-year term with the Nebraska State Bar Association along with several professional nominations.

Outside of the office, AJ is a devoted father to his 9-year-old son, Sterling. On the weekends he enjoys spending time with his family, staying physically active, cheering on Penn State, and watching the Miami Dolphins attempt to rekindle their glory days. He also enjoys traveling and considers himself a foodie who is willing to try anything once.
