Jeff has a broad depth of legal experience in both civil and criminal law. As an attorney for Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, Jeff assisted clients in multiple areas of civil litigation such as family law, employment law, consumer rights, unemployment/worker's compensation, social security disability/SSI and landlord-tenant. Jeff also served as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney for the Wichita County District Attorney's Office, where he spearheaded the Gang Injunction Unit and helped run the Drug Enforcement Division. Before joining Nicholson Law Office, Jeff was the City Prosecutor for Saint Joseph, Missouri, where he prosecuted criminal misdemeanors, traffic offenses and ordinance violations.
Throughout the course of his career, Jeff has personally tried over 100 cases to verdict, interviewed and screened thousands of clients, and is licensed to practice law in three states (Kansas, Missouri and Texas). Jeff grew up in Lawrence, Kansas, where his family still resides. After graduating from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in honors history, Jeff attended law school at the University of Houston Law Center. Jeff remained in Texas to practice law for almost four years before moving back to his home state of Kansas in 2009.
Jeff is passionate about serving the needs of his clients and giving back to the community. He sat on the Board of Directors for the Wichita Falls Area Disaster Recovery Committee, formed specifically in response to a devastating flood that hit Wichita Falls, Texas in the Summer of 2007. Jeff also served as a Judge in the Teen Court Program, spoke at dozens of public relations events geared toward helping the general public become aware of their legal rights, and performed several hours of pro bono work assisting the indigent community.
