Despite depictions on film and TV of their moral dubiousness, the truth of the matter is that defense attorneys often provide the only route an individual has towards something resembling justice in a system that seems heavily skewed towards the prosecution. This knowledgebase is important, as it allowed me as a client to tailor my expectations accordingly. Mr. Cantin is also focused and thoughtfully strategic. He actively processes the shortcomings in the prosecution’s case and then he acts on them accordingly. With Shane, I knew that I had an attorney who was looking at the case from a 360 degree perspective and scrupulously deploying ancillary resources in service of the defense. For example, in my case, he retained the services of a forensic evaluator who uncovered significant problems with the evidence being deployed by the prosecution and consequently opened up potential avenues for the defense. He was intellectually engaged with my case and he did his best at every juncture to facilitate bringing it to an affirmative conclusion. While my case didn’t go to trial, I also believe that someone with a reputation for being a skilled trial lawyer will provide a greater threat deterrence to the prosecution of a case than an attorney who is seen being less adept in the courtroom setting. Mr. Cantin is renowned for his courtroom abilities and I felt sure that if my case had continued to that point, I would’ve had the most credible and best defense I could hope for. Last but not least, I trust Shane. Throughout the legal odyssey extending from warrant to pretrial hearings, my trust in Shane didn’t falter.
