Matthew Paul Robnett

RAISED IN MEXICO, MO, Matt attended the University of Missouri-Columbia as a National Merit Scholar, graduating with general honors, before attending law school at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. While at Tulane, in addition to participating in the highly competitive criminal clinic program, Matt achieved the highest score in his class in both Common Law Property and Constitutional Law.

After graduating cum laude, he first worked for the Nashville, TN Public Defender before returning to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in the fall of 2005. Under difficult conditions, Matt began working as a staff attorney with the Orleans Public Defenders, where he advanced to a Level 5 attorney, tasked with representing clients charged with the most serious criminal offenses, including homicide and sexual assault, as well as supervising new attorneys and investigators.

In 2013, Matt took over as the District Defender in charge of the Public Defender's Office for the 25th Judicial District of Louisiana. While there, Matt also represented parents and children in proceedings relating to termination of parental rights as well as reunification of children with parents.

In 2016, he made good on a promise to himself to return home to Mexico, and began working as an assistant public defender in the trial division of the Missouri State Public Defender.

In addition to his extensive litigation experience, Matt has also worked for the Small Business Administration as well as the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Since opening the Law Office of Matthew Robnett, LLC, in the summer of 2018, Matt has continued assisting clients in the areas of criminal defense, family law, estate planning, real estate matters, and more.
