Not good

I do not think Jeff hillbrenner did a very good job with my case, I was charged $4000 for 3 possession charges in Columbia, then on bond I got another charge in Macon omw to kirksville for drug and alcohol treatment I only had .1 grams of methamphetamine and 6 new little baggies with it and Macon cha...rged me with a distribution charge. Jeff charged me $2500 for that case and so while going back and forth to court on both cases Jeff tells me to take a deal with Columbia offering me 3- 10 years sentencing ran concurrent and Macon offering me 9 year sentences ran concurrent and it was suspended with me doing drug court he said if I was to violate and go to prison the 10 years would over ride the 9 year sentence and which I did violate and go to prison but in fact the 9 years over ran the 10 years and I had to do 25% on the 9 years if the 10 years would of over ran it I would of only did 15% of that time so I could of gotten out a year earlier and not to mention the distribution charge holds a lot of stuff I can’t do now like certain jobs, getting food stamps. Etc…. The 10 years was only class D felonies and the 9 years was a class B. He should of known this being a criminal lawyer and made me take a plea that I had no idea what I was doing. I do not recommend Jeff hillbrenner at karat not for drug charges. I have heard he’s good with other cases but not on mine. This was back in 2016-2017 and was wanting to say something to him but never did until now I missed my daughter graduating high school because of this.

Jeff's professionalism

Jeff Hilbrenner’s office was recommended to me to deal with my DWI case. I wanted a competent law firm as I was not proud of what happened to me and naturally I needed expertise, professionalism and privacy from a lawyer. After contacting his office, they immediately put me in contact with Jeff Hil...brenner himself. He immediately took ownership of my case and gave me a preliminary consultation. That was to be expected, but with the complications of my case and my previous record, he easily provided me with the feeling of security combined with his knowledge and competence. One very important factor was that he was quickly able to determine my type of personality/character which allowed him to support me “on my own level”. He provided a great communication platform in which we could work together. Thinking about how past lawyers are somewhat vague on the potential outcome, with a case declining throughout the process – this was not the way Jeff handled my case. He was straight forward, did much investigating and then presented me with options. He remained positive throughout my case. His professional competence was again proven when he presented me with the final options for the resolution of my case. We decided on the best course of action which was presented during my court date. I was nervous on the outcome, but I watched Jeff present the details of the case and all was resolved as he had planned. Jeff’s also had a great relationship with the prosecutor – I could see that during my court appearance. In summary, I would easily ask for Jeff’s help again if needed and I recommend to anyone in contacting Jeff to help solve your legal concerns.

Criminal defense review

I hired Jeff to defend a criminal case on the recommendation of a friend in Columbia. I thought Jeff was an excellent attorney. He is a straight shooter, tells you exactly how he sees it. He takes the time to review the facts of the case with you, points out his viewpoint from a defense standpoint..., and puts together a strategy to get the best result possible for his client. In our case he negotiated with the prosecuters office to get an excellent result. I would strongly recommend Jeff to any friend or family member. He understands how the system works and as importantly , has a professional, mutually respectful relationship with the prosecuters office that serves his clients well.
