Lusamba “Christelle” Tshibengabo is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Columbia, Missouri office. Christelle brings substantial courtroom and client advocacy experience to her practice, having represented individuals through challenging and often highly personal legal matters. She approaches her work with compassion, preparation, and a focus on understanding each client’s individual circumstances and goals.
Christelle earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she received a Title III Merit-Based Scholarship, served as President of the African Law Student Association, and participated on the Moot Court Board. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with minors in Sociology and Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs. She is licensed to practice law in Missouri.
Prior to joining the firm, Christelle managed a diverse litigation caseload and served as her firm’s primary courtroom attorney. She represented clients in matters involving parenting plans, financial support, post-decree modifications, juvenile proceedings, and other domestic disputes, handling cases from the initial consultation through resolution. Her work included hearings, negotiations, discovery, motion practice, and drafting settlement agreements and other litigation documents.
Christelle previously served as an Assistant Public Defender with the Missouri State Public Defender System, where she managed a high-volume caseload and regularly appeared in court for hearings, motions, negotiations, and trials. Earlier in her career, she gained additional experience through legal internships involving client representation, mediation, legal research, and litigation preparation.
Fluent in both English and Lingala, Christelle values connecting with people from different backgrounds and making sure clients feel heard. She strives to be a steady advocate who provides clear guidance and thoughtful representation as clients work toward the next chapter of their lives.
