Insurance company refused any significant settlement and the case ended up in litigation. Near the date of trial, insurance counsel relented and offered a mid-six figure settlement amount, which client decided to accept.

OUTCOME: Two Policy Limits Were Obtained

Client was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk when she was struck by a left-turning vehicle. Vehicle did not stop and render aid, but rather sped off in a hit and run incident. We worked ti ... relessly with local law enforcement to investigate the scene, traffic and retail store cameras, and speak with potential witnesses, eventually leading identification and arrest of the vehicle driver. Driver was subsequently charged with several felony offenses stemming from the incident. Client was sent for medical treatment, including TBI, and other brain injury analysis. Ultimately, we were able to obtain the policy limits on two insurance policies related to client's accident. Client was also deemed incompetent, on which grounds the insurance company refused to disburse funds. We assisted client and client's family through the conservatorship process and ultimately fulfilled all conditions for funds release.

One of elderly clients crossed a busy street in Los Angeles County without waiting for the crosswalk to turn green. Halfway through the six lane street, a vehicle headed westbound failed to see our cl ... ient and struck him while he was essentially jaywalking. Client suffered injuries to his shoulder and hip, and the insurance company initially denied coverage due to improper crossing and contributory negligence. We fought aggressively, investigating the scene of the accident on the same day of the incident, noting road, visibility and traffic conditions. Due to our offensive strategy, the insurance company backed down and we were able to settle the accident for a six-figure amount for our client who fully recovered from his injuries.

A client who was hit by a vehicle while riding her bicycle on the wrong side of the road was denied any recovery by the insurance company. The insurance investigator determined through social media th ... at the client was not injured and that she was in violation of applicable ordinance regarding use of a bicycle on the highway. After filing suit and crafting a compelling explanation as to the client's fitness lifestyle and chain of events leading up to the accident itself, Mr. Tsao was able to expertly pick apart the insurance defense counsel's case against our client at deposition. This resulted in the insurance company tendering the policy maximum to settle the case -- even though they had been adamant that they were not going to pay client anything previously and client was even considering dropping her claim/case! By crafting a story to show the client's credibility, the insurance company had to give in to the firm's winning reputation!

Clients, who were passive members of an LLC that owned a real estate development, were being pushed out of the investment by the developer/General Manager who was diluting their interest in the LLC ass ... ets. Mr. Tsao was able to forcefully assert our clients' interests and take over the development project from the General Manager, after significant due diligence and under the threat of lawsuit. Clients' ultimately sold the project for a large profit and was able to collect additional sums for mismanagement by the former General Partner.

Clients were owners of a popular food truck that were opening up their first brick and mortar location. The landlord, who owned the retail strip, made all kinds of false promises to induce our clients ... into entering a disadvantageous lease. Afterwards, landlord caused all kinds of problems by interfering with business operations and harming goodwill of the business when clients complained about the issues. After retaining our firm, Mr. Tsao deftly got the landlord to cease his disruptive behavior. Then Mr. Tsao was able to take the client's frustrations and turn them into a lawsuit that put all the burdens of the situation onto the landlord. Before trial even commenced, the defendant landlord caved in and settled with the clients, releasing them from the lease, paying them significant amounts for damages, and taking over the liabilities attendant with client's setup restaurant business at that location.
