Defendant Cunningham left laparotomy pad in patient Mary Louise Knell during surgery for the removal of tumors in her colon that proved to be malignant. He was advised of same by operating room nurse. ... Plaintiff was retired 61 year old women with adult children. As result of pad left in her she developed sepsis and died five months after the original surgery. The matter was settled prior to depositions being taken of the defendant doctor.
