This case was a contract dispute involving the sale of a business. I represented the plaintiff. The contract was originally drafted without an attorney and did not contain the standard protections an ... experienced attorney would have included. The defendant had possession of the business, but failed to pay the sums owed to my client. The matter came to me urgently because defendant decided to sell the business, which would have effectively left the plaintiff without any recourse for the breach of contract. I filed a temporary restraining order, which was granted and later converted into preliminary injunction, preventing defendant from selling the business for the duration of the litigation. Neither party wanted a protracted litigation, so we settled the matter on very favorable terms to my client.
