Gregory A. Carpenter

Mr. Carpenter sent a letter to the IRS for me. About 4 weeks later I received a letter from him indicating he had not heard back from the IRS. He asked me to let him know if I receive a response. He also indicated I had a credit balance with the firm. I contacted my former business partner and was... told she had taken care of the matter and the penalty had been removed. I received a letter from the IRS about the same time stating Mr. Carpenter had left the tax payer ID and title off the form 2848. I tried to reach Mr. Carpenter and had to leave a voice mail message. I received no return call so contacted the IRS and confirmed that my former business partner had corresponded with them and my penalty had been removed. I again tried to contact Mr. Carpenter and he was not in. I left him a detailed message and asked if he needed any documentation of my conversation with the IRS for my file. I also told him I would like to be refunded the amount of the credit balance. Again I received no return call. Since that time I have attempted to contact him on at least 2 other occasions. One of these times I explained the situation to the person who answered the phone who said she would leave him a hand written message. I never received a response to that message either. It has now been one month since my initial call in response to his letter and still have not received a response. I called again and was told he was on the phone and was directed to leave a voice mail message. I again explained the situation and asked Amy, the Paralegal who answered the phone for some recommendations on how to reach Mr. Carpenter. She was very unhelpful and again suggested I leave a voice mail message or give her a message to hand write. I asked to speak to Mr. Carpenter's paralegal. Carol, I believe is her name was also very unhelpful and asked to take a message, stating she has nothing to do with Mr. Carpenter not returning calls and stated he has been out of the office on vacation for 2 weeks. I was eventually connected with Mr. Carpenter and attempted to explain the situation and he cut me off stating it simply was not the case that I had called him and left messages because he had not received them. Words followed and he hung up on me. I called back and spoke with Mr. Stover, one of the firm's partners, who had originally referred me to Mr. Carpenter. I explained the situation and Dr. Stover kindly offered to process my request for a refund of my credit balance, stating I should have the check within the week.
