Emily Sue DeFoor

Emily DeFoor is an attorney who approaches every case with compassion, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose. She was drawn to the practice of law by the opportunity to help people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, easing their stress while advocating for their best interests.

Emily takes pride in ensuring that her clients feel heard, supported, and confident throughout the legal process. She builds her client relationships on trust, striving to create an environment where clients know she will fight tirelessly for them while keeping them informed every step of the way.

Starting in Family Law, some of Emily’s most defining moments in her career were moments of bringing families the support they needed during a difficult time within the legal system. This includes helping a grandmother regain visitation with her granddaughter after three years of no contact, as well as advocating for a mother’s right to provide the mental health care needed for her child. Experiences like these have reinforced Emily’s commitment to achieving meaningful results for her clients.

A Kansas City native, Emily grew up in Overland Park and later returned to practice in her hometown community. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, cooking and baking, tackling DIY projects, painting, and hosting friends and family. She also loves spending time with her three dogs.
