There are many practical issues with this attorney: non-responsiveness, poor value, etc but this attorney has compromised values and will advocate for domestic abusers in family court at the expense of children and their safety just to make money. Hopefully, she will leave family law and make Johnson... County a safer place for children and victims of domestic violence.

First, I really liked Jill. When she showed up, she was fierce and great to the point you'll think, sure, I've paid an large amount of money for a completely absent attorney, but today? Today makes up for all of it. That said, you will almost never hear from Jill after your first meeting. No amo...unt of emails, questions, or phone calls will get a response. Other professionals will also not be able to reach her; she has a reputation for this. You will be left in the dark as to what's going on in the legal process. Once I had court and the morning of I still didn't know if I was supposed to be in court that day and whether or not she was going to be there. She will not answer your emails. She will not answer your questions. I cannot say that enough. I feel like several of her recommendations may not have been in my best interest, cost me money, and put me in a worse position. The results I most wanted she never obtained. She was kind to continue represent me past the initial retainer, but even though I worked out a payment plan she quit-- at a crucial moment in my case. A case which is in regard to the health and safety of myself and my children. In conclusion, Jill is likable, professional, knowledgable, experienced, and fierce in a courtroom. You will be glad when you're in court that Jill is on your side. She is no-nonsense and won't waste your time. However, if you need someone to answer questions, keep you abreast of what's going on in your case, explain the legal processes that are happening, make the other party comply with court orders (including child support), or advise you, Jill may not be the best choice.

I hired Jill after finding her listed as one of KC's "Super Lawyers". I found my previous lawyer this way and would have used him if he hadn't been appointed a judge. I was unbelievably impressed after my initial consultation with Jill. She is smart, knowledgable, personable. I felt like she understo...od what was going on with my case like she had been with me from the beginning and immediately hammered out a plan of action. That is where the positive part of this review ends. This initial consult was one of the last times I had actual contact of any kind with Jill. It is close to impossible to get Jill to return phone calls and emails. My ex's lawyer also could not get her to respond. With their new email invoice system I still received my bill every month, even after not receiving any form of communication for months at a time. In the end, I had her remove herself as my attorney of record. Save your time and money and choose another lawyer.
