Craig somehow signed up but is not the lawyer the judge appointed and doesn't even work for the firm that the court appointed via the public defender rotation. Don't hire him and don't let any lawyer who you hired or court appointment shuffle you to him in for their taxpayer paid $80-120/hour gig. If... suddenly you have Craig enrolling nip it in the bud early because he will increasingly ruin your case all the way up to a hearing or a plea or a trial with no idea what's going on, rarely talking to you or returning calls and emails, never contacting witnesses or writing subpoenas, not familiar with evidence, missing deadlines, and bluffing for so long it's too late. He will make a muck and get penalties, warrants and bond taken because HE didn't do HIS work or communicate then disappeared. It appears Craig's modus operandi is to make calls on long car rides, so he can bill his commute to taxpayers via the state public defender budgets. On these calls, he's talked mostly about himself and random things, not case work. He rarely makes any sense, so badly it seems he's mixed you up or talking about something else entirely. Each call, if you ever can get him to focus on the case, is like it's the first day on the case. Why? Because he hasn't started, has forgotten everything, doesn't calendar, doesn't take notes. Whether incompetence or scheming is irrelevant, don't. He changes conversation to himself and stonewalls by repeating over and over rather unimpressive stories he seems to think mean he's brilliant, like how he supposedly won a case once or caught the police lying once. Asks same elementary questions for upteenth time that you've repeatedly answered like what are your charges, again, in the files. May spew some obvious explanation that kindergarten kids could probably answer? He doesn't seem to have read anything, and it turns out he doesn't even have the files. Rants and tantrums when asked about your case, what to do, what he's doing and if he has done anything he said yet. (He hasn't). Pushes off the idea of of client contact by email, probably because it's a trail of his incompetence and shows client does what they are supposed to do and he doesn't. If something goes wrong, and it will, makes it look like the client didn't do what they were supposed to do when it was him. Makes things up out of thin air or alludes to a document he may have glanced at or from a different case and bungles what it says. No clue how many people are in jailed or on warrant that never should have happened or had money funnelled to sheriffs without knowing what happened because of him. Don't risk it.
