Be carefully who you hire

David Johnson handeled a work comp case for me. The case should have been finished within a year but he drug it out for eight years. From 2000 to 2008. the only reason it was finished then is because the workers compensation people got hold of me themselves saying they wanted to settle. Mr Johnson wo...uld not take or return my calls for 6 or 8 months at a time. I would sometimes trick him into answering my calls by using someone else's phone so he wouldn't reckinize the number. Then he would usually tell me that he would call me back in around three minutes, and then not only would he not call me back but he wouldnt take my calls or call me for months later. At times when he took my call by being tricked he would holler at me for bothering him. He would tell me that he had been meeting with the work comp lawyer to discuss the case and many times I would find out latter that he hadn't , usually because he couldn't keep his lies straight, he lied to me so many times. He would line up interviews with witnesses and then never show up. My settlement was only a fraction of what it should have been because I finally just agreed to take what work comp offered because he was never going to do anything . I discussed my case with other lawyers after a few years had drug out and they told me I definitely needed to get a different lawyer but the case had already drug out so long that nobody wanted to take over the case. I knew mr Johnson needed turned in but didn't know how to go about it. I am unable to work. Just trying to make it on my social security disability which isn't nearly enough. My settlement amount was so little that it was impossible to put money back. When the papers were to be drawn up for my settlement he brought them down for me to read when he was already in this area and told me he would be back with the final papers which would be exactly the same for me to sign to agree to the terms. Then a few days latter he came to my home and told me to "sign here" after I signed I started to turn the page to view the pages underneath and he grabbed the papers real quick and said " that's the only place you need to sign. Then he quickly left. He told me this amount offered will go all to you I'm taking none of it. I thought perhaps he was doing this because he had done such a poor job representing me and because I was getting such a small amount. He told me that the workers compensation lawyer had already read the papers and all he had to do was present them to the judge and that he had brought them to me to sign to save me from making the trip (which was over a hundred miles) because a trip that long put me in great pain. When everything was finished up I found that he had snuck in a small page saying that I had agreed to give him serval thousand dollars of the settlement . That is why he had brought me the papers to sign and why he had grabbed the papers so fast after I signed them. Because of the way the case was handled.i have hardly enough money to keep food on the table. This site said not to put spiteful things. I am really not saying all this for spite. I am just trying to keep others from ending up like me. Mr Johnson is a very likable person with a good personality, but I would think twice before hireing him to represent you. Best of luck to any who read this.
