Bill Cownie has lost his integrity over the years. I have used Bill four times for various things over the last 23 years. This last time, I recently hired Bill to represent me in a divorce, and it was like working with a completely different person. Bill was hostile, rude, and hung up on me over ...the telephone for simply asking legal advice (after I retained his services). Bill charged me a flat rate of $1,950 for an uncontested divorce. As soon as my divorce was filed, Bill was pushing myself and the opposing counsel to move my case to a contested divorce and would not listen to what I wanted at all. Also, Bill is really good at sending you argumentative, non-productive emails and then charging you for them. I could see my case going south ALL because of Bill. I hired a new attorney to take over, and Bill, who had hardly done a thing at this point, stated that I had spent my full payment of $1,950 and would get nothing back. The new attorney redid every piece of paper Bill had filed and finished out my case for a total of $1,350. The new attorney also listened to me (the paying client) and got me the best possible deal without dragging out my case. Bill was unwilling to listen to what I (the client) wanted and was only trying to rack up more unnecessary charges. This caused a ton of extra stress during an already difficult time. There are far too many good attorneys out there to waste your time and money on this rude and arrogant scam artist.

I hired Mr. Cownie to attain Guardianship and Conservatorship over my mother. It was a long process but Mr. Cownie kept me in the loop at all times, and I was appointed. He is now used to assist in the yearly filing and maintenance. Very happy with the services I receive and I highly recommend him... and his staff!
