This was a separation of a couple who had lived together for more than a decade, but never married. At the break-up, the man claimed that the house and adjoining property were his separate property, as ... they were titled to him alone. I represented the woman and was able to successfully argue at trial that the property was subject to partition as the parties had each contributed to the acquisition and maintenance of the property since its purchase. The court agreed and divided the property one half to each party. The man appealed, but I was able to successfully argue to the court of appeals that no error had been made. Accordingly, my client walked away from the relationship with one half of the real estate, which was much more than the 0% that was offered to her.
