Matt Lawler, is possibly the worse lawyer in Southeast Missouri! I spoke with him back in the fall of 2017 when I felt my Mother’s affairs, who was in a nursing home here in Cape, were being mishandled by other siblings! I gave him $1000 to represent me, which he seemed to understand and agree with m...e that I had a right to seek counsel and that I should have been her POA, and not my step brother who had been appointed POA! Mr Lawler’s office soon closed with no notice to me, and I had no idea where he had moved his location. That’s because he didn’t move to another firm or office in Cape. I found out in 2018 that he had been working for CIty of Miner but currently was working for the Scott County Prosecutors office in Benton, MO! Then in 2019 I found out he was working for the Terry Lawfirm in Cape! So I contacted him and went and talked to him again and he reassured me he would help me with my situation! Then Covid 19 hit and blew everything up! Wasn’t able to meet with him and apparently he hadn’t done anything anyway! Then my Mother Passed away! He did nothing to help me…I believe he wrote one letter to my mothers attorney requesting copy of will and any legal documents and that was it! Never found out If he acquired any information or nothing in 2021! Then I got a letter from Terry lawfirm that he would be leaving and going back to City of Miner for employment! Haven’t heard from him since so he basically ripped me off of $1000!
