I am a Missouri and Kentucky attorney. My practice covers business law, commercial and civil litigation, real estate and land use, and questions of data privacy and intellectual property. I counsel companies and individuals through contract drafting and negotiation, entity formation, ownership and contractor disputes, and the technology and information issues that now sit at the center of most businesses.

Most of the matters I take on do not fit neatly into a single category, and that is where I do my best work. I read the governing language closely, I map the exposure before I act, and I sequence notice, demand, and remedy so that a client's position is protected before anything becomes irreversible.

Before I founded Porter | Smith Law, I worked inside and alongside law firms, banks, and advisory firms. I analyzed data-privacy and cybersecurity obligations, studied securities and cyber-incident disclosure, and designed the systems that produced the analysis. I hold a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from Washington University in St. Louis. I also build technology through Robert & Porter, which keeps me fluent in the privacy, risk, and commercial questions my clients increasingly face.
