Murder
Jul 10, 2014OUTCOME: NOT GUILTY
The client was faced with a 2nd degree murder charge for a shooting which left one victim dead. In a classic case of over charging, the prosecution was seeking to hold someone accountable, yet failed t ... o do a thorough investigation before going forward with the murder charge. Through countless hours of investigation, it was discovered that the client had been the target of an organized ambush. While he did discharge a weapon, he only did so in self-defense, when he had no other choice. Careful cross examination uncovered the fact that those involved in the ambush had lied to the police, tried to cover up for each other, but failed to deliver a believable story to the jury. The police simply failed to adequately investigate the incident and follow up on their interviews. Although it was tragic to the family that lost their loved one, the jury concluded in only 3 hours of deliberations that the client was innocent of the charge of murder. Their not guilty verdict opened the door for the client to walk out a free man after being held in jail for over a year and a half.
