Best Lawyer Ever!!

I had a consultation with Matt Brown and when I sat in his office for the first time he already knew so much about me. He said he does his research on new clients prior to meeting them for their consultation. I was super impressed that he took the time to get an understanding of who he will be meetin...g with and get an idea of their background. This was the 3rd lawyer I had seen and told my story to. He listened to me, was so understanding and genuinely just showed me he truly cared about trying to help me and my case. He was by far the most compassionate man I've ever met!! Unfortunately in my case there was nothing he could do because I had already signed the settlement that I was forced into signing the day of trial because my lawyer I had hired told me I either sign the settlement or she will withdrawal from my case. She said she will not sit in trial for 4 days not getting paid!! She did nothing for me at all!! Had I found Matt Brown sooner I know without a doubt my life would be so much different than it is today!!! I highly recommend this lawyer to everyone!!!

Do your research

My divorce has been going on for almost 2 years and feel like we aren’t even close to ending. Matt doesn’t respond to emails or phone calls. Even had an appointment with him and he didn’t show up. Has said he’s going to file things in my case for months now and still nothing happens. Tired of the exc...uses, definitely all talk but truly doesn’t seem to care about your case.

Keep looking

Paid this guy and case is still dragging on two years after filing. He doesn’t answer emails. He says he will represent you when you meet him then he turns his back on you. He doesn’t even remember anything you tell him. I have had to remind him about things. Bogus charges show up on bill and w...hen you send him an email he won’t respond. This guy will not fight for you. He will tell you he doesn’t take your money but please don’t believe that. He will take it and forget who you are until you go to court. He will also tell you things and then he will send you an aggressive email saying that he never told you that. Trust me, he’s not a good lawyer and he has forgotten how to protect his clients and fight for them. He’s truly lost and needs to remember the oath he took.

Buyer Beware!

He wont return your calls, he doesn’t respond to emails on important time sensitive cases. We usually find out we have court the day before or the day of court. All he cares about is money. He should not be practicing law. I’m not saying this out of anger. He would be a great lawyer if he did his job.... But he doesn’t have sympathy for those with little money. I recommend you stay away him and make sure you find a lawyer that will care for you as if it were their own situation. I understand hillsburro is a large place and he probably has a lot of cases, but in order to be a great lawyer you should care about all you clients. We don’t just use him without paying - WE PAY OUR BILLS. He makes sure he gets his money whether he helped you or not. If you get an invoice from him inspect it top to bottom because he likely charged you for something he didn’t do. Ask for proof. We have hired great lawyers in the past and they’re always there for us and treat us like family. Choose him if you wish but be very very weary. We have been building a case agsinst him. We have emails and phone records showing how well he is at handling cases and proof that he he doesn’t respond to you. Sometimes HE answers but most of the time he does not. And we have to beg to get him to answer or lie to get him on the phone because his secretaries have caller ID and if they see your name and he doesn’t want to talk he will tell them he’s out of the office but if there is an emergency, he calls us back right away almost like we are a burden and as if he was never actually out of the office. We don’t mind him as far as personality, seems like a great person. He just shouldn’t be practicing law if he is going to continue to not do his job. He does not care about the little man. Please be careful and find someone that will do their job. We wish the best for him, the firm he works for and most importantly, we don’t want this to happen to you. And we wish the best for you. We were forced to report him to the bar association. He just doesn’t do his job. In the past our extremely busy lawyers communicated with us at their earliest convenience. But Mathew brown will not and he will charge you even if he did not take your phone call or email. And has been disrespectful to us when we told him he wasn’t doing his job and told us to, “find a different lawyer but good luck because we would have to pay another retaining fee.” Very unprossional to say to a customer paying thousands and we can’t afford another retaining fee. Otherwise we would have never hired him. If you use him, please be careful. It has really been upsetting to us, my fiancé cries because of the lack of care he provides us and Iwe are fed up with it. We really had high hopes for him. He’s a great sales man, and a great guy to talk to if you can get in touch with him. but I recommend he finds a new career or i hope he starts doing his job. Recently we found out we had court one day and didn’t know about it until the NIGHT before court he emailed us causing us to take off work unexpectly. We often receive the court information from the other party before he even mentions anything to us. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he is sooooo good that he is that busy but he’s not a partner so evidentially the partners don’t feel he is capable. I wish the best for him and hope he can find a career that will suit his future. Best of luck to him but please don’t let this happen to you We don’t want anyone to go through what we have. It’s very sad that you can’t count on the guy that’s supposed to be by your side. I wish the best for the firm and hope they take immediate action. But unfortunately we will never recommend him / his firm to anyone. He should represent his firm with the highest standards but instead he is ruining the brand I’m sure the firm worked very hard to establish. But please don’t take my word for it. If you feel this message is in error I invite you to try him yourself. Be careful

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
