I really debated writing this becasue I am not one to complain but I felt compeled to relate my divorce experience. I can honestly say this was the worst experience I have ever had.
Divorce can be stressful enough without having your own attorney belittle you. This woman in my opinion and from my e...xperience was extremely rude. If she felt you disagreed with her or dared question her, she would threaten to pull out of the case. I actually experienced a full blown panic attach after reading several of her emails because of how rude she was. In my opinion, she did not finish her job. Even after the divorce, she wanted more money to finish what I consider was her job and when I dared complain about the billing and yes, I complained many times about the billing, she immediately insisted that she resign from the case and told me if I didn't sign the letter of release, it would cost me even more morey becasue she would take this matter to court to get this letter signed so she could be released. This was all agreed upon one evening. The very next day, I began receiving communication from her office questioning and making sure I was going to sign the letter and was once again told that if I didn't, it would cost me more money as Paige would take this matter to court. Trust me when I tell you, I couldn't wait to get this over with and sign the letter! This had gone on way too long in my opinion and the longer it drug out, the more money I had to pay Ms. Strawn. Note, the divorce had been over weeks ago and there was a bit of paperwork that still needed attended to which I wasn't prepared for. I thought I had paid her final bill but I was wrong. It kept going, draining more money. Now, to continue, the evening after Paige requested to withdraw from the case, the next day was a nightmere. I received numerous emails telling me the letter needed to be signed immediately and scaned to "my case". Her assistant was trying to guide me through the signing process . I did not have the ability to scan from my office, so I went to a friend's office to scan and it wouldn't allow me to do so. Her assistant then asked that I go to either Office Depot or Staples to get the requested document scanned so I could attach it and send. Both of these businesses are about a 45 minute drive ONE WAY. This went on for almost 3 hours as I was trying desparately to comply to her IMMEDIATE request. Finally, her assistant ( I felt so bad for her as she was truly caught in the middle) agreed to just allow me to fax the signed document. Needless to say, I gledly signed the letter as I could not afford to pay her anymore than I already did and I had had enough! On another occassion, Paige sent me an email that wasn't even mine which makes me wonder if she sent any of my emails which I consider prilvate to another client. The "human contact" in her office is lost, as she requires communication via "my case" I feel so much is lost most of the time by not speaking directly with the client. I understood she was busy, but again so much can be learned through voice contact. A tough time in my lilfe, I feel was made even tougher because of Ms. Strawn's lack of compassion and her inability to "connect". I truly do not want anyone to experience what I did. I want to emphasize the above is strickly my opinion and is based on the experience I had.
