If asked about a conviction say no. If asked whether you ever pled guilty to a misdemeanor say yes

I can just about guarantee you the police report will read a lot less favorably than what you recall. Then you will see that you need a lawyer.

As long as you still hold an Illinois driver's license, they can suspend it. You might be able to surrender it before the suspension goes into...
