Harrisburg Pa. Police Officer Wins Workers' Compensation Case
Jun 21, 2017OUTCOME: My injured worker client won his case.
A police officer client of mine was injured by a suspect during an arrest. The officer suffered a severe blow to the head and had post concussion syndrome. The City accepted his case for injury on duty ... ( Heart & Lung ) benefits but DENIED his Workers' Comp Case. As such, a claim petition was filed with the Workers' Comp Judge. The case was fully litigated with medical deposition testimony and lay testimony from both sides. The Workers' Comp Judge provided a decision after filing of briefs. My client won his case. The Judge found that my client indeed was injured on the job and was awarded $20,000 in back benefits with 10% interest on the award. On going full temporary total benefits were also awarded to continue in the future as well as ongoing medical benefits. The Judge also awarded the payment of litigation costs in excess of $6,000 to be paid by the employer, the losing party.
