Ridiculously lazy and incompetent

She is the PD for Mr T Navarrette El. I am filing this review on behalf of a pretrial detainee at Peoria County Jail who has been assigned Ms. Justice as his court-appointed public defender in Case #2026-CF-209, a Class 2 felony matter with a critical hearing date of July 1, 2026. Ms. Justice has pr...ovided zero meaningful communication or advocacy to her client throughout the duration of this representation. Ms. Justice has failed to visit her client, failed to review discovery, failed to investigate a documented eyewitness who will testify the client was not present at the time of the alleged offense, and failed to respond to repeated written requests from the client and his family. A formal deadline of June 8, 2026 was communicated to her in writing. She has not responded. Beyond Ms. Justice's own failures, her office maintains a front-line staff member whose conduct is an embarrassment to the legal profession. On June 10, 2026 at approximately 10:00 AM, this receptionist hung up on a family member who was calling on behalf of the detained client — without cause and without apology. This was not an isolated incident. This same staff member has hung up on the client's family on three separate occasions over the past three months. Each call was made for a legitimate and urgent legal purpose. The behavior is hostile, unprofessional, and completely incompatible with a public defender's office that exists to serve vulnerable clients who have no other legal recourse. A receptionist who systematically hangs up on family members of incarcerated defendants is not a minor administrative problem. She is a barrier between a detained person and his constitutional right to counsel. This person should not be the voice of a public defender's office. Ms. Justice's failure to act on this case — combined with her office's pattern of hostile treatment toward the client's family — has caused documented harm. The client is a pretrial detainee with four diagnosed psychiatric disabilities. His July 1 hearing requires urgent motions for pretrial release and outpatient competency evaluation under 725 ILCS 5/104-17. Without competent representation, those motions will not be filed. A formal complaint has been filed with the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC). The public record will reflect that Ms. Justice was given every opportunity to fulfill her constitutional obligation to this client and declined to do so. We are documenting every failed contact. This review is part of a weekly accountability campaign that will continue until this client receives the representation he is constitutionally entitled to.
