Jason H Rock

I joined the Barrick Switzer Law Firm as an associate attorney in 1994.  I was promoted to Partner in 1999.  I am a current member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Winnebago County Bar Association, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

I served as Winnebago County Bar Association Bankruptcy Section President in 2000 and 2007. I have also presented at various legal seminars on topics such as perfection and enforcement of mechanics liens, intersection of bankruptcy and divorce matters, application of Illinois asset exemptions, and bankruptcy preference claims and related defenses. In 1997, I successfully argued before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals defending against a creditor claim that its interest in real estate transferred pre-petition by a Chapter 7 debtor was superior to the statutory interests of a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee.

The primary concentration for my law practice is the representation and protection of the interests of small businesses and their owners.  I assist my business clients with real estate, transactional, and employment matters.  I also specialize in corporate formation as well as buying and selling business assets.

I am a past volunteer board President for the Rockford Boys and Girls Club and also served on volunteer boards for the Rockford Art Museum and Laurent Foundation. I taught bankruptcy as a special business law instructor at Highland Community College.

I attended Rockford Guildford High School where I was a member of the National Honor Society and an Illinois State Scholar. In my senior year, I was the recipient of the United States Army Male Scholar Athlete Award. I was a conference wrestling champion and a team and individual State qualifier in golf.

Prior to graduating from law school, I worked as an assistant golf professional and worked as a legal intern at Sundstrand Corporation assigned to various pension plan compliance and human relations matters.
