Alicia Oliver Leonard

 I was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. I love my hometown and I'm proud to be practicing law here. I started my legal career at the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office as an Assistant State's Attorney. There I learned what it meant to be a trial attorney and work with passion to seek justice for victims of violent crimes. I started my own law practice because I wanted to continue to fight for good people during the most trying times of their lives.

I graduated from Northern Illinois University College of Law cum laude. I was actively involved in serving as Dean ofDelta Theta Phi, participating as a Moot Court Associate Justice for the Moot Court Society and studying abroad through the Agen France Summer Program. While at NIUCOL, I was a semi-finalist in the 2005 Internal Moot Court Competition, awarded the Student Bar Association "Most Motivated Leader" Award by my peers, as well as being recognized by Northern Illinois University as a recipient ofthe Northern illinois University Outstanding Women Student Award. I worked during law school as a tutor for the NIU College of Law Academic Support Program and volunteered at Safe Passage, a local domestic violence shelter, as a legal advocate.

I am currently a member ofthe Winnebago County Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. I am regularly appointed as a Guardian ad Litem by the 17th Judicial Circuit to represent the interest of children in family and juvenile delinquency cases. I also serve as an arbitrator for the 17th Judicial Circuit Arbitration Project.

When I'm not at the office, I enjoy traveling, hanging out with my miniature schnauzer Cortana, and watching terrible television.
