I hired Attorney Brett Simon through Off The Record to handle a traffic matter in Cook County. While he communicated with me prior to the court date and confirmed he would appear on my behalf, he did not show up on time. My case was called at exactly 9:00 AM, and I had to represent myself completely.... According to the attorney, he arrived around 9:10 AM — by then, my case had already been processed. This left me feeling unsupported and frustrated. When I requested a refund due to the lack of in-court representation, the attorney became defensive rather than understanding. He claimed late arrivals are “standard practice,” which was never communicated to me. He eventually offered a 50% refund — but only if I signed a non-disparagement agreement, which felt more like a way to avoid accountability than to resolve the issue professionally. I understand that courts can be hectic, but timeliness and clear communication are essential. Unfortunately, Attorney Simon did not meet that standard in my case, and I cannot recommend his services based on this experience.
